Accordingly, the 15th edition of the “Simple but noble examples” writing contest was part of political and cultural activities to celebrate the 80th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army, the 80th founding anniversary of the General Department of Political Affairs, and the 35th anniversary of the Whole-people’s Defense Festive Day.
The contest was held to honor typical examples who are generals, officers and veterans with outstanding achievements in the national construction, military and the protection of the Fatherland in the new situation.
After a year, the organizing panel received nearly 1,000 entries in various categories. This has been the contest with the largest number of submissions in the 15 years since its inception. The contest has attracted the participation of many generals, writers, journalists, and others.
After the preliminary and final rounds, the organizing panel selected 35 outstanding works to honor, including one special, three first, eight second, eleven third, and twelve consolation prizes. The award ceremony will take place at 20:00 on December 6 at the Ho Chi Minh Museum in Hanoi and will be broadcast live on the Vietnam's Defense Television channel and on the digital platforms of the People's Army Newspaper. The main characters honored in their works are bright examples. Whether in times of war or peace, they have maintained their bravery, overcome challenges, and continuously made contribution to the cause of national construction and protection.

The "Simple but noble examples" writing contest was first organized by the People's Army Newspaper and other units in 2008. Since then, the contest has been held continuously for 15 years, affirming its distinctive feature of the dissemination model, contributing to spreading and promoting exemplary models of studying and following President Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality and lifestyle.
In his remarks, Major General Doan Xuan Bo expressed his hope the 16th edition of the contest will have higher quality. Therefore, it is necessary to receive the accompanying of reporters from media agencies and collaborators to honor many more outstanding individuals of the country.
Along with the award ceremony on December 6, the organizers will conduct activities, such as a ceremony to report achievements to President Ho Chi Minh, a visit to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, and a photo exhibition at the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Protection Command.
