The mission also checked the provincial border guards’ implementation of law dissemination and education, settlement of administrative violations, and observance of law and discipline.
Concluding the inspection, Gen. Luong, who is also Head of the Steering Committee for the Implementation of the National Plan on Combat against Drug, Human Trafficking, Smuggling, Trade Fraud and Counterfeit and on Practice of Thrift and Anti-wastefulness (Steering Committee 1389), acknowledged and praised the command’s outcomes in the work obtained over the past time.
Mentioning the complicated development in the region and the world and the East Sea (or South China Sea), the deputy defense minister asked the command to continue grasping and seriously and effectively implement guidelines and policies of the Party, State, Central Military Commission, Ministry of National Defense, and Party Committee of the Vietnam Border Guard Command on requirements of Fatherland safeguarding in the new situation.
He asked the force to be fully aware of the importance of preserving and protecting sovereignty and security in border area and foster coordination to closely follow situational developments to make accurate forecast of hostile forces’ schemes, thus developing effective combat plans.

Gen. Luong urged the unit to promote their core role in combating crimes and illegal acts along the borderline, cooperate with other forces to handle defense and security issues, effectively carry out mass mobilization activities, replicate production and hunger elimination and poverty reduction models, foster dissemination, and mobilize locals to join the efforts in safeguarding sovereignty and security in border areas. The external border work should be effectively carried out to build a borderline of peace, friendship, stability, cooperation, and development.
The Quang Binh provincial Border Guard Command is tasked to manage and protect areas along the Vietnam - Laos borderline. Although it is stationed in a complicated area with a large number of ethnic minority population, the unit has closely followed and accurately forecasted situational developments and applied measures to prevent crimes and illegal acts in a timely and effective manner, contributing to ensuring local political security and public order. The province’s border guard force has also organized law dissemination and education programs and provided legal assistance to troops and people in border areas.
