Lieutenant General Huynh Chien Thang, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, attended the event.
Delivering a report at the ceremony, Major General Tran Dinh Thang, Director of the Department of Economic Affairs, emphasized that over the past 65 years, generations of cadres, employees, and soldiers of the military economic sector have brought into play the good nature and glorious tradition of the Vietnam People’s Army. They have also heightened solidarity, creativeness, industry, thrift practice, and self-reliance. In addition, they have proactively surmounted difficulties and excellently accomplished all assigned missions, contributing significantly to the military development and the national salvation, construction and defense cause.

In his speech, Lieutenant General Huynh Chien Thang praised the military for promoting its core role in economic-defense area building, socio-economic development, and defense and security consolidation in strategic, remote, mountainous, and border areas, on islands, and in revolutionary bases.
The deputy chief of the General Staff also applauded military enterprises for their continuous innovation, development, integration, production and business efficiency in combination with good implementation of military and defense affairs.

Apart from effectively performing its advisory role for the Central Military Commission and Ministry of National Defense, the Department of Economic Affairs has directed units to carry out production and economic building effectively, said General Thang. He added that the department’s contribution has helped improve defense capacity, ensure social welfare, implement social policies, generate revenue for national defense budget, and improve troops’ spiritual and material life.
