PANO – Voters expressed their delight at recent developments of the military and applauded the success of the Ministry of National Defense in firmly protecting national sovereignty over the country’s borders, seas and islands and maintaining peace and security for national socio-economic development.

Defense Minister, General Ngo Xuan Lich, and other National Assembly (NA) deputies for Ha Nam province organized a meeting with local voters on October 5 in Duy Tien district.

At the meeting, local voters strongly advocated the Party’s and State’s standing on the East Sea (South China Sea) issue, which clearly reads that Vietnam consistently pursues the policy on settling disputes over seas and islands in the East Sea via peaceful means, such as dialogue and diplomatic channel, for the sake of peace, stability and development of the country and region.

Local voters applauded the Party’s and State’s policy to consolidate national defense and security and to build on the military to ensure peace and independence for the nation and national sovereignty over the land, sea and islands in the past years.

Local voters also proposed that involved State agencies should have timely and effective measures to deny hostile forces from spreading poisonous information on the internet, and that the Government should pay more attention to environmental protection, food safety and hygiene, and agricultural and rural issues.

On behalf of the NA deputies for Ha Nam province, General Lich reported local voters on regional and international situations, underscoring that regional and international situations are experiencing quick and unpredictable changes that require the whole people and army to join efforts to successfully implement the Party’s and State’s policy to ensure national sovereignty, territorial integrity and peaceful environment for national socio-economic development.

General Lich stated that the domestic situation contains both advantages and complex issues. According to him, although domestic political opportunists and dissidents in collaboration with overseas hostile forces are attempting to undermine the Vietnamese people’s and revolution’s achievements, most Vietnamese people trust the Party in leading the nation and the State in managing the country; as a result, the nation will overcome all difficulties to build on a strong and prosperous country.

The defense minister and other NA deputies answered some questions from the voters and pledged to summit their issues to the next NA hearing.

They also asked the local Party organizations and authorities to take good care of local people and to settle local voters’ issues within their domain quickly and completely, avoiding negative thoughts, bad feelings and discontent among local people.
