The delegation also included Major General Ngo Minh Tien, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, and representatives from Military Region 5 and other relevant agencies under the MND.

On behalf of the army corps’ Party Committee, Major General Dang Anh Dung, Chief of Army Corps 15, briefed the delegation on the unit’s task performance over the first eight months of 2018.

General Lich acknowledged their great efforts and achievements over the past time. He instructed the unit to better implement political education and build strong political stance for its troops. In addition, the corps should be well aware of their role and responsibility as well as main missions of unit-building and ensuring social order and security while continuing maintaining its internal unity and enhancing civilian-military ties. He also hoped that the corps would overcome difficulties to fulfill all assigned missions.

During his inspection in the Gia Lai provincial Military Command and Border Guard Command, General Lich highly appreciated the leadership and Party Committee of Military Region 5 Command in coordinating with the local authorities and sectors and other units, contributing to ensuring social order and security and supporting locals to stabilize their life.

General Lich also hailed good results of the two units’ task performance, particularly in carrying out training, combat readiness, border patrol and force building missions. Both units also closely worked with the local authorities to ensure social order security and in the region, take part in search and rescue activities, actively brace for natural disasters and support local people in developing household economy.

Concluding the meetings, General Lich requested that, in the coming time, the units should thoroughly grasp situations and foster border defense cooperation with Cambodian counterparts to successfully handle arising issues, contributing to building a borderline of peace and development.
