PANO - Minister of National Defense General Phan Van Giang signed a decision on July 27 on presenting certificates of merit to military collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in the COVID-19 fight.
The decision aims to acknowledge troops’ efforts and contributions to the COVID-19 prevention and control efforts over the past time as well as to encourage them to fulfill all assigned missions.
According to the decision, 53 collectives and 97 individuals from different units throughout the military will be honored this time.
Reportedly, since the fourth outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in Ho Chi Minh City and southern localities, military units have conducted various activities to contribute to localities’ efforts in containing the virus.
Over the past time, units throughout the military have actively collected samples and conducted testing to trace COVID-19 infection cases, quarantined citizens who returned from pandemic-hit localities, transported COVID-19 vaccines, and sprayed disinfectants in COVID-19-hit areas.
Apart from providing necessities, military units have conducted practical activities to assist local people, especially disadvantaged ones, in overcoming difficulties caused by the pandemic. Their deeds have been highly appreciated by local Party committees, authorities and people.
