Defense Minister asks military technical service to ensure technical supplies for missions

Reporting on the implementation of technical work from 2021, Chief of the General Department of Technical Services Lieutenant General Tran Minh Duc said that the general department has comprehensively carried out tasks, and well observed the advisory role to the Central Military Commission (CMC) and the Ministry of National Defense (MND) on technical work.  

The military technical sector has pro-actively actualized plans on the work; ensured the supplies of good-condition technical equipment for missions; carefully checked the procurement, maintenance, innovation, and modernization of technical equipment as planned. The system of warehouses and workshops has gradually been upgraded to meet task requirements, while the quality of factories has been enhanced.  

The technical service has taken measures to well manage and effectively use weapons and equipment; fostered technical cooperation with other countries; promoted digital transformation; and actively carried out scientific research.

Speaking at the conference, Gen. Giang praised the outcomes obtained by the General Department of Technical Services and the military technical sector since 2021 and shared difficulties confronting the service.

To raise the quality of technical work in the coming time, the Defense Minister asked the service to continue to grasp and effectively implement resolutions and directives of the CMC and the MND on the work and the general department’s key missions determined for the 2021 - 2026 period; focus on ensuring technical supplies for combat readiness and training missions and exercises; carry out the MND’s plans on equipment procurement and manufacturing.

He urged the military technical sector to foster training to enhance troops’ mastery of new equipment; accelerate the implementation of Campaign 50 and regularity building; work with relevant agencies to take measures to attract and develop high-quality technical human resources.
