Defense leader extends Tet greetings to VAVA
PANO - A delegation from the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, led by Deputy Defense Minister Sr. Lt. Gen. Hoang Xuan Chien, visited and extended lunar New Year (Tet) greetings to the Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin (VAVA) on January 22.
During the visit, VAVA leader reported on the association’s operational outcomes in 2024, emphasizing that last year the association made breakthrough imprints. New leadership of the association led the agency to complete all tasks assigned by the Party and the State with results higher than expected.

Attentively, VAVA successfully collaborated with the National Humanitarian Portal 1400 and MBBank’s Charity App. to organize the program “Joining hands to ease Agent Orange pains” in 2024. The program collected nearly VND 1.4 billion to give support and take care of victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin.
In addition, the association renovated its fund-raising affairs in a more practical and effective manner. As a result, its affiliates in localities and the association itself have so far raised over VND 521 billion.

Gen. Chien highly praised VAVA for its attainments over the past time, and stressed that the Central Military Commission (CMC) and the Ministry of National Defense (MND) always back the association’s activities.
On the occasion of the upcoming Tet 2025, Gen. Chien handed over Tet gifts of the CMC and MND to the association, and wished the association’s leaders, cadres, and members good health, happiness, aspiration to rise and integrate in society.
The deputy defense minister hoped that VAVA would continue to disseminate information about Orange Disaster in Vietnam, take advantage of international friends’ support, and call for more resources and efforts at home and abroad to assist victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin.
