At the event, GDLT Director Lt. Gen. Tran Minh Duc informed that in response to the Prime Minister’s program of planting 1 billion trees “For a green Vietnam” in the 2021-2025 period and to make its barracks bright, green, clean and beautiful, since 2021, the general department has planted over 1.3 million trees. This year, it targets to plant 274,000 trees including timber and fruit ones.

In his speech, Gen. Vinh lauded the GDLT for its achievements gained over the past time, including the afforestation work. He highlighted the military’s annual tree-planting festival as a good tradition, bringing about practical benefits.

According to the defense leader, since 2021, the whole military in collaboration with other organizations has planted 25.4 million trees, meeting the set goal and being three-fold higher than that in 2020.

Speaking highly of the GDLT’s tree-planting festival as a source of motivation and showing determination to successfully carry out its tasks on the first days of merger and reorganization, Gen. Vinh asked it to set an example and take the lead in tree-planting, improve dissemination work to raise its personnel’s awareness of the importance of tree-planting. The unit should also stay ready to respond to incidents and natural disasters, look after trees and give timely encouragement and commendations to groups and individuals with attainments in tree-planting and afforestation.

In addition, the unit should concentrate on fulfilling its political tasks, particularly implementing projects and strategic programs of the military logistics-technical service sector. Moreover, it should ensure logistic supplies and technical services for the parade in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day; promote information technology application, administrative reform and digital transformation.

Earlier, Gen. Vinh inspected the progress of the arsenal-applying-new-technology project at Warehouse KV1. He asked the GDLT to continue directing the Department of Weapons and Ammunition and Warehouse KV1 to complete the smart warehouse project to ensure its high efficiency when operational.
