CMC gathers retired senior officers in MR5 and MR7
PANO - The Central Military Commission (CMC) and the Ministry of National Defense organized meetings with retired senior officers in Military Region 5 (MR5) and Military Region 7 (MR7) on January 11 to brief them on the recent developments in Vietnam and the world, and also learn their thoughts and listen to their opinions.

Senior Lieutenant General Luong Cuong, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, permanent member of the CMC, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA), chaired the meeting in MR5.
The general briefed the participants on major domestic and global political and military developments; national socio-economic and defense security situations; external affairs of the Party, State, and the Army; the VPA’s task performances in 2016 and its plans for 2017.
On the occasion of the Lunar New Year, the general wished the participants good health and happiness. He expected that the retired officers would continue to encourage active military servicemen and servicewomen to promote tradition to build the VPA into a regular, elite, and gradually modernized force.

Meanwhile, about 400 retired senior officers attended a meeting in MR7, chaired by Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission, Commander of MR7.
On behalf of MR7, Lieutenant General Pham Van Dy, MR7 Political Commissar, briefed the participants on notable domestic and global issues, leadership of the Party and State, and task performance of the army in general and the military region in particular.
The participants said that the meeting was a good chance for them to learn more about new national and international developments and to strengthen relations among generations of the army.
