Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Phuong Nam, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army speaking at the event
General Nam made that request on January 3 while addressing a conference of the Cipher Department under the General Staff on reviewing its task performance last year and rolling out missions for this year.

Last year, the department instructed its affiliates to study and strictly carry out regulations on military information safety and security as well as secrecy of cryptography techniques. Besides, the department received and distributed safely 1,117 storage devices and thousands of other sets of equipment and provided adequate documents and equipment relating to the sector.

With those outstanding achievements, the department was honored with flags by the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and the Governmental Cipher Board and a merit certificate by the Ministry of National Defense.

This year, the department will focus on implementing the Central Military Commission’s conclusion No.90/KL-QUTW issued on February 5, 2016 on building and developing a modern military cipher sector; organizing training courses to improve cadres’ command and staff capacity; ensuring data security during exercises and cipher operations; well making use of equipment, especially new cryptography techniques and equipment; and organizing a competition for military cipher cadres.

At the conference, the department launched a “Determined-to-Win” emulation movement, regarding it as a driving force for the unit to victoriously fulfill its missions for this year.
