PANO – Artillery Brigade 164 of Army Corps 2 on October 25th marked its 60th founding anniversary and received the third class National Protection Order.
At the celebration, the generations of cadres and troops recalled the unit’s glorious tradition and feats of arms. In wartime, Artillery Brigade 164 was side by side with people in the central region to shoot down enemy’s warships and aircraft, firmly defending Military Zone 4’s coastal region.
The unit’s troops took part in many battles in Road 9-North Quang Tri battlefields, Mau Than Campaign in 1968, Spring-Summer Campaign in 1972 and the fight to defend Quang Tri Ancient Citadel. In acknowledgement of its contributions, the Party and State awarded the unit with the title, “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces”, on December 20th, 1972.
Promoting the unit’s glorious traditions, its present cadres and troops have united to gain remarkable achievements in different fields. The unit focuses on raising the quality of training and combat readiness and building the unit with firm political stance. For their achievements, the unit has been consecutively presented with the “Comprehensively strong unit” title.
