Army Corps 4 honored with first-class Fatherland Protection Order
PANO - Army Corps 4 Command held a solemn ceremony on July 19 in Binh Duong province to mark its 50th foundation anniversary (July 20, 1974 – 2024) and receive the first-class Fatherland Protection Order.
In his speech, Army Corps 4’s Commander Major General Le Van Huong recalled its heroic and glorious tradition. Five decades ago on July 20, 1974, the Regional Command issued a decision on the establishment of Army Corps 4. Five months since its birth, the army corps' troops joined and won Phuoc Long Road 14 Campaign, successfully liberating Phuoc Long (the first locality in the South to be liberated). The unit then achieved glorious feats-of-arms in the General Offensive and Uprising in Spring 1975 and successfully managed 11 districts of Saigon-Gia Dinh.
In the Fatherland construction and defense cause, Army Corps 4 participated in the Southwestern border defense war and successfully fulfilled noble international duty to help Cambodia overthrow the Pol Pot genocidal regime. Since 1989, the army corps has paid attention to raising the quality of training and combat readiness capability, participated in socio-economic development mission, and actively helped locals in natural disaster and disease prevention and control.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam congratulated Army Corps 4 on its feats-of-arms and achievements over the past 50 years.
