The program was to implement the common perceptions reached by the Ministers of National Defense of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia, contributing to enhanced mutual understanding and trust while further strengthening the traditional friendship and solidarity among the peoples and militaries of the three countries. It also provided an opportunity for young officers to exchange experiences and share their dedication, sense of responsibility, and aspirations to contribute to their militaries in the new era.

An overview of the event

At the event, participants affirmed that young officers of the three militaries are not only the direct successor generation responsible for building revolutionary, regular, elite, and modern militaries, but also a vanguard force in scientific research, innovation, digital transformation, application of new technologies, and international integration.

Young military personnel of the three countries have carried out numerous practical and effective activities, developing innovative models and approaches in education on tradition, fostering political stance, discipline training, scientific research, support for socio-economic development, disaster and disease response, and the maintenance of security and order in border areas.

Participants emphasized that programs such as young officers’ exchanges, border defense friendship exchanges, twinning activities between military units, delegation exchanges, volunteer activities, and cultural and sports exchanges have made important contributions to deepening mutual understanding, bonds, and trust among the younger generation of the three militaries.

To further promote the role of young officers in the coming period, participants proposed that young military officers of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia continue strengthening education on the tradition of solidarity and friendship among the three countries; enhance awareness and responsibility in preserving and promoting these valuable relations; and expand exchanges and experience-sharing in training, force-building, discipline management, scientific research, digital transformation, and application of new technologies within the military.

Other proposals included studying and implementing several practical cooperation models among young officers of the three countries, including the “Young Officers’ Innovation Forum” focusing on digital transformation, scientific research, and innovation; the “Journey to the Roots – Following the History of the Combat Alliance” program; and the “Military Youth for Community” initiative featuring social welfare activities and support for people in remote, isolated, and border areas.
