The visits were within the framework of the Vietnam - Cuba young officer exchange 2024 in Cuba.
During the visits, the two sides shared experience in discipline observance, training, organization of youth movements to boost mutual understanding and learn from each other.

In a visit to the Mobile Brigade of Special Troops, Vietnamese young officers joined the youth activity entitled “Olive green sovereignty,” during which they learned about the unit’s traditions and combat experience through stories told by Brigadier General Noel Ochoa Gomez, Commander of the Special Forces. As introduced, the Mobile Brigade of Special Troops is a commando unit established and directly directed by Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro.
Watching individual combat and tactical exercises, the two sides emphasized the similarities between the commando forces of the two militaries, which came from the absolute loyalty to the Party, Fatherland and people of each country, as well as the learning and exchange between the two militaries.

The Vietnamese young officer delegation also visited the Military Security Unit which is tasked with military counterintelligence, organizing and controlling military police activities, and managing and protecting important locations in Cuba. Garrisoned in a large area, this unit has a large force, with more than 50% of the troops being Youth Union members. During the visit, young officers of Vietnam and Cuba discussed Youth Union activities, observance of discipline, attention to and promotion of young female officers’ role.

Also in the two aforementioned units, the two sides had cultural and artistic exchanges to tighten solidarity and close-knit ties between the two countries’ young officers.
During their stays in Cuba, the Vietnamese young officers visited some historical relics there.
The six-day Vietnam-Cuba young officer exchange 2024 was wrapped up successfully. Meaningful exchange and experience-sharing activities during the event helped preserve and cultivate the special friendship between the two countries and militaries.
