Vietnamese peacekeepers learn experience from French experts
PANO – The Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operation (VNDPKO) in association with the French Defense Attaché Office in Vietnam launched a program on October 21 to exchange experience of actual operations and security maintenance at the United Nations (UN) Peacekeeping Missions.
Accordingly, during the five-day program, French experts will share their realistic knowledge with Vietnamese military personnel, who are expected to be part of an engineer company joining UN peacekeeping operations.
The contents of the program include security maintenance measures, preparation and deployment of patrol tasks, determination of directions, rules of engagement, and so on. Additionally, participants will conduct mock-up exercises to deal with real situations of security and safety at UN Peacekeeping Missions.

Speaking at the event, VNDPKO’s Director, Major General Hoang Kim Phung highly valued the assistance of the French government to Vietnam in joining UN peacekeeping operations over the past time. He hoped that the two sides will bolster their professional exchange in the time to come, especially in response to the recent agreement on the establishment of a framework for Vietnam’s participation in crisis management activities (FPA) of the EU, to which France is an active and experienced member.
In turn, Lieutenant Colonel Marc Razafindranaly, French Defense Attaché to Vietnam, praised the country’s active participation in UN peacekeeping operations. The French Republic is keen on supporting the Vietnam peacekeeping force in personnel training in preparation for the deployment to UN Peacekeeping Missions, he stressed.
