In his speech, Major General Tran Van Xo, Deputy Chief of the Vietnamese Department of Operations, said that inheriting the tradition of friendship and close solidarity between Vietnam and Laos and Cambodia in the struggle for national independence in the past and the current national construction and development, the relationship between the operations sector of the Vietnam People’s Army and its counterparts of the Lao People’s Army and the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces has continuously developed over the past years, actively contributing to increasing mutual trust and consolidating the cooperative ties between Vietnamese military and Lao and Cambodian militaries.
Regarding future cooperation, General Xo hoped that as a staff agency of each military on operation, they will effectively maintain exchanges and coordination in accordance with the spirit of cooperation determined by the defense ministry of each country, with the goal of deepening their relations, thereby lifting the bilateral defense ties between Vietnam and Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia to a new height and on par with the traditional friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos and Cambodia.
Through defense attachés of Laos and Cambodia to Vietnam, the Vietnamese department presented the equipment to its Lao and Cambodian counterparts.
Though the equipment was not much, as General Xo emphasized, it showed the deep sentiment of the Vietnamese side for the Lao and Cambodian sides in particular and of the Vietnam People’s Army for the Lao People’s Army and the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces in general.

For his part, Colonel Vongxay Inthakham, Lao defense attaché to Vietnam, stressed that the continuous material and spiritual support from the Vietnam People’s Army for the Lao People’s Army demonstrated the close-knit ties between the two countries. He also highlighted the continuous assistance from the Vietnamese Department of Operations for the Lao counterpart despite difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Sending thanks to the Vietnamese side for the gift, the Lao officer confirmed that the equipment will be used in the most effective way.
Expressing thanks for the Vietnamese side for the timely support for the Department of Operations of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, Colonel Rem Kann, Cambodian defense attaché to Vietnam, said that it manifested the fruitful friendship between the two militaries, helping to deepen the bilateral defense ties.
Colonel Rem Kann confirmed that in his capacity he will team with functional agencies of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense to develop the bilateral defense cooperation in an intensive, practical and effective manner.
