Representing the unit, Lieutenant Colonel Thai Van Hoang, Deputy Chief of the post, expressed his honor in welcoming the defense leaders of the two countries on the occasion of the third Vietnam-Laos Border Defense Friendship Exchange.

The Border Post of Thanh Thuy Border Gate currently manages 13.748km of the borderline with six border markers (from No.457 to 462), bordering Sopteng village, Nam On commune, Xaychamphone district, Bolykhamxay province (Laos).

Over the past time, the unit has maintained regular talks and information exchanges with Border Guard Company 252 under the Bolykhamxay provincial Military Command and the Nam On Border Gate Police Station under the Bolykhamxay provincial Police Department regarding border management, protection, and security maintenance. The two sides have effectively implemented two legal documents on the Vietnam-Laos land border, the Protocol on Border Guard Cooperation between the two defense ministries, and minutes of talks between the armed forces of Nghe An and Bolykhamxay provinces.

Notable coordination outcomes include conducting 18 joint patrols, promptly detecting and handling violations of the land border regulation agreement, and strictly managing border gates and immigration. Both sides also maintained quarterly meetings and established a hotline to swiftly address border incidents, preventing complications. In addition, they pro-actively combated smuggling and illegal immigration while effectively promoting public awareness of laws and encouraging residents to protect the borderline and report crimes.

Furthermore, the forces frequently visit and exchange greetings during holidays and military anniversaries, strengthening mutual understanding and friendship. The Border Post of Thanh Thuy Border Gate also sponsors a Lao student under the “Paving the way to school for children” program.

The deputy chief of the Border Post of Thanh Thuy Border Gate affirmed its commitment to continuing to coordinate closely with Lao border protection units in border management. It aims to deepen the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation, contributing to cross-border socio-economic development and building the shared borderline of peace, friendship, and development.
