Sr. Col. Doan Ngoc Triet presents a souvenir to Colonel Alberto T. Ferre. |
Speaking at the meeting, Senior Colonel Doan Ngoc Triet, Second-in-Command in Legal Affairs of the Coast Guard Region 2 Command, highlighted the strong and substantive development of cooperation between the two coast guard forces, particularly following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in 2024. He noted that reciprocal port visits by Vietnam Coast Guard Ship 8002 and Philippine Coast Guard vessels in 2024 and 2025 served as tangible evidence of the growing bilateral partnership.
He expressed his hope that the visit would further strengthen mutual trust and deepen the friendship between the young officers of the two forces, thereby contributing to the maintenance of peace, maritime security, and the rule of law at sea.

As part of the exchange program, the delegation toured Ship 8002, a modern offshore patrol vessel designed and built domestically using Vietnamese technology.
A representative of the Vietnamese side introduced Ship 8002's missions, including maritime patrol, sovereignty protection, and search-and-rescue operations. The visitors were briefed on the ship's bridge, which is equipped with a Rolls-Royce electro-hydraulic steering system, electronic navigation charts with integrated warning functions, and a comprehensive surveillance camera system.
On the main deck, the delegation observed the ship's advanced rescue equipment and a high-speed workboat capable of reaching the speed of up to 31 knots an hour, enabling rapid response in rough sea conditions. The helicopter control center, equipped with radar and weather sensors to ensure the safe take-off and landing of medium-sized helicopters, was also presented.
