PANO - In the waters of Southern Subic Bay of the Philippines, the ASEAN Fleet Review (AFR) took place on May 11.
Philippine Defense Chief Carlito Galvez chaired the event. Rear Admiral Tran Thanh Nghiem, Commander of the Naval Service, together with commanders from ASEAN navies, attended the ceremony on Philippine Navy landing dock LD602.
The 015 - Tran Hung Dao of Brigade 162, Naval Region 4, together with a delegation, led by Deputy Chief of Staff of Naval Region 4 Senior Captain Nguyen Van Ngan, joined the fleet review. The formation included nine ships of ASEAN countries, including Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Brunei (2 ships), Malaysia, and the host Philippines (2 ships).
After receiving the order from Ship FF151 of the host country, all ships moved to designated area at the speed of 10 knots per hour. Participating in the fleet review, the 015 - Tran Hung Dao stood out with the image of the country’s flag flying next to the host country’s flag.
The LD602 carrying the Philippine Defense Chief and ASEAN naval commanders maneuvered at the speed of 10 knots per hour in the opposite direction, to the left side of the ASEAN naval ships at a distance of 200 meters. When the landing ship was by the 015 - Tran Hung Dao, all crew-members on board performed the formal greetings according to the regulation of the Vietnam People’s Navy.
The active and responsible participation of the Vietnamese frigate during the fleet review affirmed the support of the Vietnamese Defense Ministry as well as Navy for international and regional events hosted by the Philippines, thereby promoting cooperation between the two navies as well as among ASEAN navies.
After the fleet review, the 015 - Tran Hung Dao docked at Subic Naval Base of the Philippines to be ready to participate in activities and drills at sea within the framework of the second ASEAN Multilateral Naval Exercise (AMNEX).
