At the meeting, the Vietnamese deputy defense minister and Turkish counterpart agreed that defense cooperation remains one of the key pillars in the overall bilateral relationship between Vietnam and Turkey. They expressed their pleasure at the fact that the two defense ministries established resident Defense Attaché Offices in each country in 2025, and highly appreciated the positive results of bilateral defense cooperation in recent years.

Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Truong Thang proposed that the two sides further strengthen cooperation in such areas as delegation exchanges, training, search and rescue, post-war unexploded ordnance (UXO) remediation, defense industry, United Nations peacekeeping operations, cooperation between arms and services, cybersecurity, and responses to non-traditional security challenges.

He affirmed that Vietnam stands ready to receive Turkish officers for Vietnamese language training and participation in international defense officials’ training programs in Vietnam. He also suggested that both sides continue to coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums, particularly at the United Nations and within the frameworks of ASEAN.

On this occasion, General Thang respectfully invited the Turkish Deputy Defense Minister, leaders of the Turkish Ministry of Defense, and Turkish defense enterprises to attend and exhibit products at the third Vietnam Defense Expo 2026, scheduled to take place this December.

Expressing appreciation for the invitation, Turkish Deputy Defense Minister Musa Heybet stated that the Turkish Ministry of Defense will send a delegation and enterprises to participate in and exhibit at the Expo. He also expressed his hope to further strengthen bilateral defense cooperation with Vietnam, including promoting exchanges at all levels, human resource training, defense industry cooperation, and collaboration between arms and services. Regarding defense industry cooperation, Turkey is ready to work closely with Vietnam in line with each side’s needs and capabilities.
