Vietnamese and Lao units hold joint exercise

An overview of the exercise

The event was attended by Deputy Director of the Border Guard Department of the General Staff of the Lao People’s Army Colonel Ounkham Sivenvongsack and Head of the Borikhamxay provincial Party Committee’s Commission of Organization Bounsong Phetchaleun.

Deputy Commander of the Vietnam Border Guard Command Major General Le Van Phuc and representatives of Military Region 4 and functional agencies of the Vietnam Border Guard Command and the Ha Tinh provincial Border Guard Command attended the exercise.

In realizing the cooperation plan between the Vietnamese and Lao Ministries of National Defense, in 2022, the Ha Tinh provincial Border Guard Command and the Borikhamxay provincial Military Command were tasked to jointly conduct an exercise on preventing immigration and illegal entry and exit across the Vietnam-Laos border. The event aims to raise troops’ abilities of dealing with circumstances in border areas and maintain political security and public order, contributing to building peaceful, friendly, stable, and developed shared borderline in general and border areas in Ha Tinh and Borikhamxay provinces in particular.

At the end of the exercise, the organizing panel presented the Ha Tinh provincial People’s Committee’s certificates of merit to two groups and six individuals and the Borikhamxay provincial authority’s certificates to three groups and 11 individuals with outstanding achievements during the event.

In addition, the organizers also gave certificates of merit from the Ha Tinh provincial Border Guard Command and Borikhamxay provincial Military Command to outstanding groups and individuals.
