At the conference, both sides reviewed their cooperation, highlighting the regular information exchange and close coordination to monitor and counteract activities by hostile forces. They discussed effective collaboration on border security, focusing on preventing illegal entry, border crossings, logging, and mineral exploitation, while also ensuring a peaceful, cooperative, and developing border region. Additionally, the Attapeu authorities, people, and armed forces have supported K53 Team of the Kon Tum provincial Military Command in the search, repatriation, and burial of six remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors who sacrificed their lives while conducting international service in Laos during the wartime.
The two sides agreed to foster joint patrols to prevent illegal border crossings and combat various forms of crime in the time to come. They also plan to advise local authorities on managing unauthorized cross-border migration effectively, following the policies of both Vietnamese and Lao governments. The Attapeu provincial Military Command will continue to work with local communities and call on people to provide information on martyrs’ burial locations and support Kon Tum’s K53 Team in the search for and repatriation of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors’ remains.
The two units also agreed to facilitate exchanges of officers to enhance mutual understanding and experience sharing on training, discipline maintenance, and regularity building.
On this occasion, the Kon Tum provincial Military Command presented a financial support package of VND 500 million to the Attapeu provincial Military Command for the improvement of their military facilities.
