The Cambodian side hosts a reception for Vietnam’s Naval Region 5 at Ream Naval Base.

Rear Admiral Nguyen Duy Ty, Chief of the Naval Region 5 Command, and Admiral Ouk Seyha, Deputy Naval Chief and Commander of the Royal Cambodian Ream Naval Base, co-chaired the meeting.

During the conference, the two sides reviewed the outcomes of the 69th and 70th joint patrols in the historic waters of Vietnam-Cambodia. In detail, the two countries’ naval forces made thorough preparations and effectively implemented combined content exercises, including maneuvering in the formation of a detachment, order and security maintenance, information exchange, search and rescue operations, communication via UFH and VHF channels, flag and lamplight signaling. The joint patrols contributed to raising the operational capability of crew-members.

In the coming time, the two navies agreed to continue strictly implementing the agreement on the historical waters and regulations on joint patrols while actively coordinating with other forces to prevent and fight against transnational terrorist acts, illegal tracking and transportation of goods, drugs, weapons, explosives, illegal exit and entry, among others.

Additionally, both sides will promote dissemination of information about law observance, regulations on fishing in the historical waters, as well as keep up the hotline to exchange information and propose measures in a timely manner to deal with unexpected issues, contributing to maintaining a peaceful and stable environment and tightening solidarity, friendship, mutual understanding and trust between the two naval forces.

At the event, Naval Region 5 handed over signal equipment to the Cambodian side and presented medicines and medical supplies to the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Hospital.
