At Highway base, the Vietnamese engineering unit painted the national flag on a nearly 100 sq.m roof at the Level-one Field Hospital. The large red flag with a yellow star, visible from above, created a jubilant atmosphere to mark the national holiday.

The building with the painted national flag is prominently located at the entrance of Highway base, making it easily visible from the road leading to the base. This symbol of the national flag serves as a warm greeting to international friends visiting the Vietnamese engineering unit’s base and as an assertion of national pride by the peacekeepers on duty in Abyei.
As part of the National Day celebration, the unit also handed over a repaired boat to the residents of Mijak village, helping the local community improve their transportation. To date, Vietnam’s Engineering Company Rotation 2 has repaired four damaged boats for Mijak village community.

At the handover ceremony, Mr. Luar Mayol, the manager of the Mijak area, expressed his gratitude, “We are very grateful for the support from Vietnam’s Engineering Company Rotation 2. Your actions have positively impacted the lives of the people here, improving living conditions and providing us with better transportation.”

Additionally, Vietnam’s Engineering Company Rotation 2 continued to visit and give gifts to patients being treated at Abyei Hospital.

The unit also carried out road upgrades, dredged drainage ditches, replaced culverts, and provided flood relief in the Abyei area, addressing poor road conditions during the peak of the rainy season, caused by prolonged rains.
