Vietnam’s and Laos’ defense academies to boost cooperation
PANO – Vietnam’s National Defense Academy and the Kaysone Phomvihane National Defense Academy of the Lao People's Army held a seminar on Party and political work on June 11 in Hanoi.
The event was co-chaired by Lieutenant General Nguyen Ngoc Tuong, Deputy Political Commissar of Vietnam’s National Defense Academy and Colonel, Dr. Khamphai Saphongnua, Deputy Political Commissar of Laos’ Kaysone Phomvihane National Defense Academy.
During the seminar, the two sides shared experiences of their Party and political work over the past time and put forward measures to raise the quality and effectiveness of the work.
They also developed a defense and security training program for both Vietnamese and Lao trainees, a plan on organizing defensive exercises, and training courses to raise troops’ competence in applying IT to training and research.
Addressing the event, General Tuong affirmed the significance of the working visit of the Lao delegation, saying that the visit marked the 10th anniversary of the twinning of the two academies and demonstrated the solidarity between the two peoples.
On the occasion, the host briefed the guest on the Vietnamese academy’s history, tradition and task implementation as well as performances of Lao officers who have studied and are studying at the academy.
On behalf of the Lao delegation, Dr. Khamphai Saphongnua highly appreciated the warm reception of the Vietnamese side as well as the Vietnamese National Defense Academy’s achievements over the past time.
He thanked the Vietnam People’s Army and Vietnam’s academy for creating favorable conditions for Lao officers to study in Vietnam and said that the Lao officers have effectively applied their acquired knowledge to their task performances.
