Vietnam People’s Navy hands over distressed foreign fishermen
PANO – The Vietnam People’s Navy held a meeting to hand over two Filipino fishermen, Congiral Plores Madarcos (aged 30) and Reynante Madarcos (aged 34), to the Filipino Navy on February 16.
The two brothers of Ship Thanks Giving 5 from Occidental Mindoro province (the Philippines) had an accident and were detected drifting to the coral reef of Son Ca Island of Truong Sa district, Khanh Hoa province, on February 8. During eight days on the Vietnamese island, the fishermen received wholehearted care from the Vietnamese naval troops garrisoned on the island.

Vietnamese naval troops talking to fisherman Reynante Madarcos on Son Ca Island |
Vietnamese English-speaking troops often had talks with them during their stay on the island.
By saving and supporting the foreign fishermen, Son Ca Island’s troops demonstrated their sense of responsibility for needy people at sea, as well as humanity and morality of the Vietnamese people.
This also contributed to building the Truong Sa waters of peace, friendship and cooperation.
