PANO - The Defense and Security Committee of the National Assembly (NA) of Vietnam and its Lao and Cambodian counterparts jointly held a meeting on September 21 in Nha Trang city to review their cooperation results over the past years. Vietnam NA Deputy Chairman Do Ba Ty attended the event.

Overview of the meeting

At the meeting, delegates reviewed the implementation of their signed agreements, especially on supporting economic development of the three countries, contributing to promoting friendship and cooperation among relevant bodies of the three national assemblies. In addition, they agreed to promote cooperation in legislation and supervision, as well as to continue to organize similar meetings in the future.

The three committees will also direct their relevant bodies to deal with issues related to national border security and enhance the border demarcation and landmark planting , contributing to building a border of peace, friendship, stability, cooperation, and development. They agreed to give advice to the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly and the ASEAN Community on sustainable use and management of transnational water resources, including the Mekong Delta.

Addressing the event, NA Deputy Chairman Ty said that friendship, solidarity and cooperation of the three countries saw much development over the past time. He added that the discussion at the meeting was meaningful and practical to the joint statements and agreements signed by the three countries' national assemblies, contributing to further ties among the three national assemblies and the three peoples.
