Vietnam, EU promote defense cooperation
PANO - A high-ranking Vietnamese military delegation, led by Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, member of the Party Central Committee, permanent member of the Military Central Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense, attended the EU defense ministers’ conference in Brussels on October 24 and 25, at the invitation of General Michail Kostarakos, Chairman of the European Union Military Committee.
This is the second time Gen. Vinh has attended the conference as a guest of honor and shared Vietnam's experiences in joining UN peacekeeping operations at the plenary meetings on the EU implementation of the ongoing tasks and campaigns.

Speaking at the event, Gen. Vinh shared Vietnam's experience in deploying the Level-2 field hospital No.1 to South Sudan recently, and affirmed that Vietnam is gradually contributing more to UN peacekeeping operations, in line with its capability, policies especially the peaceful foreign policy of Vietnam.
In order to strengthen defense relations between Vietnam and the EU, especially with each EU member in the field of United Nations peacekeeping operations, Gen. Vinh suggested establishing official defense relations between Vietnam and EU and its member countries, as well as building and completing several draft documents for cooperation in the coming time.
* On the sidelines of the meeting, Gen. Vinh met with Chairman of the European Union Military Committee and worked with chiefs of defense forces of several EU member states to discuss the cooperation potentials, especially in UN peacekeeping operations and the overcoming post-war consequences in Vietnam.
