Border guard forces from Quang Ninh and their counterparts from Dongxing city, the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, joined the exercises, during which they set up a mock scenario that two out of three unidentified persons used fake passports to leave Mong Cai international border gate and enter China via Dongxing border gate to conduct terrorism activities.
Upon learning about the news, Dongxing border guards alerted their counterparts at Mong Cai border gate via a hotline and came up with solution.
The terrorists were later arrested and bombs were defused by special tools.
On the occasion, both sides signed a memorandum of understanding to hold drills against terrorism and handle contingencies at border gates in the future.
Accordingly, they will enhance law abidance and information sharing, improve professional skills and the efficiency of customs clearance at border gates.
They agreed that August is chosen as month for border defense inspection.
