The Vietnamese delegation was headed by Major General Nguyen Hoai Phuong, Deputy Commander of the Border Guard Command, while the Cambodian side was led by General Pin Piseth, Deputy Director of Cambodia’s General Department of Immigration.
According to reports delivered at the event, in 2019, the two sides effectively coordinated in managing the border gates, contributing to preventing illegal immigration and smuggling on both sides of the shared borderline.
In addition, they regularly exchanged information relating to cross-border crime, security situation along the borderline and border gates, and settlement of law violations.
Their close coordination contributed to ensuring border security and order, promoting socio-economic development, strengthening solidarity and friendship between the two countries in general and between Vietnam’s Border Guard Command and Cambodia’s General Department of Immigration in particular.
Regarding activities in the coming time, the two sides agreed to promote sharing of information relating to immigration issues, import and export activities, and crime situations. They will promote administrative reforms and deal with incidents happened along the shared border in the spirit of respect for national independence, sovereignty and legal documents of each country, and international law.

In addition, the two sides vowed to create favorable conditions for citizens of both countries to have their health checked and visit their relatives in the other country, and promote two-way trade exchange activities.
They will also make recommendations for local authorities to make policies to promote people-to-people exchange and twinning activities between Vietnamese and Cambodian localities while promoting dissemination of the Agreement on Border Management and laws of each country, actively combating crime and smuggling, and building Vietnam-Cambodia solidary and friendship.
