The event was co-chaired by Deputy Director of the Department of Military Medicine under the General Department of Logistics of the Vietnam People’s Army Senior Colonel Nguyen Van Giang and Chief of the Office for International Cooperation of the Health Department under the Logistic Support Department of Chinese Central Military Commission Colonel Li Rui. Leaders of the Military Medical University and the Military Institute of Traditional Medicine and Vietnamese and Chinese experts in military medicine participated in the conference.

At the event

At the event, the two sides shared their experience in deploying forces to reinforce disease response, briefed each other on the process of developing and manufacturing SARS-CoV-2 test kits and researching COVID-19 vaccines, and discussed future cooperation contents. 

Speaking at the conference, Senior Colonel Giang recalled that realizing the instruction of higher levels, the Vietnamese military medical force has actively participated in COVID-19 prevention and control and taken drastic and effective measures to contain the pandemic. As a result, the military has yet to record any infected cases.

The Chinese side highly appreciated Vietnam’s achievements in preventing and controlling COVID-19 and thanked the valuable and timely supports of the Vietnam People’s Army for China since the pandemic broke out in the country.

The video-conference was an opportunity for the military medical forces of the two countries to share their experience in preventing and controlling the pandemic as well as taking care of troops and people in each country.
