An overview of the meeting

The event was co-chaired by Vietnamese Deputy Defense Minister Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong and Secretary of State at the Cambodian Ministry of Cultures and Religions Nhem Valy.

During the meeting, both sides highly appreciated the achievements gained according to the fifth meeting’s minutes signed on November 24, 2022 in Ho Chi Minh City, while the projects have been implemented as scheduled with good quality. The two sides have closely worked together to inspect the management of the monuments so as to make recommendations to higher levels to upgrade and repair the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Monuments in the Cambodian provinces of Pursat, Siem Reap, Mondulkiri, and Prey Veng.

Since 2015, Vietnam has supported Cambodia in cash to build, repair and renovate 23 Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Monuments and upgrade the headquarters of the Solidarity Front for the Development of Cambodia Motherland.

In the coming time, the two sides will continue to implement signed contents at the bilateral meetings, while coordinating to accelerate the progress of the on-going construction with good quality.

They affirmed that the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Monuments in Cambodia are historical and cultural structures representing the two countries’ relations which need to be closely managed and protected. Therefore, the two sides will coordinate to accelerate the progress of building a government-level agreement on protecting the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Monuments in Cambodia.

With the Vietnam - Cambodia neighborliness, traditional friendship, and comprehensive, sustainable, and long-term cooperation, both sides believed that they would successfully carry out the policy of the two governments on the construction, repair, renovation and embellishment of the Vietnam - Cambodia Friendship Monuments in Cambodia.
