The exercise aims to enhance the leadership and direction capabilities of local party committees and authorities and the advisory capacity of the armed forces, departments, agencies, and organizations to help deal with circumstances in a timely manner, contributing to firmly maintaining political security and facilitating local socio-economic development.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Lieutenant General Thai Dai Ngoc, Commander of Military Region 5, emphasized that provincial and municipal defense exercises are an important content in defensive area building, related to locality’s political, economic, social, defense, and security aspects.
From exercises’ outcomes, provinces and cities will continue to study, supplement, and adjust their defensive operation plans and build civil defense plans in accordance with local situations and missions, thus meeting the requirements of safeguarding the Fatherland in the new situation and early and from afar.

The military region’s commander asked the steering committee of the exercise and its agencies to direct the event in accordance with approved plan, observe the performance of participating forces, prevent hostile forces’ wrongful allegations, and guide and direct forces joining phases with field components to flexibly conduct contents while ensuring secrecy and safety.
