Speaking at the event, General Chien asked the relevant agencies to build plans to submit to the Defense Minister for approval and urged the involved agencies and sub-committees to continue their preparations for the events.

Emphasizing the importance of the events in promoting defense cooperation among ASEAN member nations, Chien asked relevant agencies to foster their coordination in preparing agendas, venue, security, medicine, and technical services.

He affirmed that the success of these meetings will demonstrate the pro-activeness and determination of the Vietnam People’s Army in implementing the set military and defense programs and activities. The meetings will also strengthen military and defense cooperation among ASEAN member states and between ASEAN and its partners amid the complicated development of the COVID-19 pandemic.

General Chien requested agencies and units to build a detailed information plan to highlight Vietnam's role as Chair of ASEAN, the Vietnamese Ministry of Defense’s coordination role, and popularize the upcoming meetings’ outcomes and significance.

While preparing for the events, relevant agencies and units should pay attention to COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control measures, Chien added.
