The Vietnamese Field Kitchen team competes well in the second event
PANO - The Field Kitchen team of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) competed in meal cooking and baking event with their rivals from Belarus, Uzbekistan and Sri Lanka at the ongoing Army Games 2019 on August 8 at Alabino training ground, Russia.
With a good performance, the Vietnamese team ranked third in the event with 238 points, behind Belarus and Uzbekistan who both had 240 points.
According to the contest regulations, competing teams will bake cakes following improvised recipes with ingredients given by the contest organizers in 6 hours.
In spite of having limited time for preparing for un-familiar kinds of cake, the Vietnamese bakers, including non-commissioned Major Cao Quang Vi and non-commissioned Captain Le Van Lam successfully completed the baking test half an hour ahead of the regulated time. With an eye-catching appearance and fascinating aroma, the Vietnamese team’s cakes, made from wheat flour, butter, milk, sugar, eggs, cacao, chocolate, apples, onion, and chicken attracted the attention of the jury.
Meanwhile, the Vietnamese cooks cooked under the strict regulations and disciplines of the simulated battlefield. They were not allowed to use mobile phones and were required to wear gauze masks, hats and gloves. Points were deducted if they violated those safety regulations.
