As part of the forum’s activities, on the morning of May 26 (Moscow time), General Gau and the Vietnamese delegation attended the conference, titled “Countering Neocolonialism as a Priority for Ensuring Security of the Global Majority Countries.” Lieutenant General, Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Cuong Quyet, Director of the Vietnam Institute for Defense Strategy and History, attended the roundtable seminar on improving measures and tactics for the use of unmanned systems.

The first International Security Forum is scheduled to officially open on May 28.

Earlier, on the afternoon of May 25 (local time), Sr. Lt, Gen. Nguyen Van Gau visited and encouraged officers and personnel of the Vietnam Defense Attaché Office in the Russian Federation.

After hearing a report from Senior Colonel Vuong Dac Thang, Vietnam’s Defense Attaché to the Russian Federation, on the office’s recent activities, Deputy Defense Minister emphasized that, in line with the Party’s and State’s foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation, development, and proactive international integration, the Vietnam People’s Army has actively promoted international integration and defense diplomacy in both bilateral and multilateral frameworks, achieving practical results.

He noted that defense diplomacy has become one of the pillars of Party external relations and State diplomacy, serving as an important channel for strengthening strategic trust and fostering friendly relations between Vietnam and other countries and international organizations, thereby enhancing the position and prestige of Vietnam, its people, and the Vietnam People’s Army.

General Gau expressed confidence that the Vietnam Defense Attaché Office in Russia would continue to effectively perform its advisory role and promote defense cooperation activities between the two countries. He also called for pro-active research and timely recommendations to further deepen the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation in a more substantive and effective manner.
