Sr. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh addresses the seminar |
Since 2019, Shimizu Corporation has worked with the Environmental Treatment Technology Center to pilot the soil washing technology for dioxin treatment at Bien Hoa airbase under the permission of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense.
As a result, there has been no sign of dispersion of dioxin into wastewater and air and the dioxin contamination remediation does not affect the surrounding environment. Moreover, participants have not been exposed to dioxin.
According to experts’ and scientists’ assessments, the Japanese company’s soil-washing technology is effective, economical, time-saving and environmentally friendly.
In his speech, General Vinh applauded and highly valued the Chemical Corps Command for its close direction and the center for its active and pro-active collaboration with their Japanese partner.
He affirmed that he believes the achievements of the pilot project and comments contributed during the seminar will be an important premise for future research to improve technologies related to pollution treatment and overcoming chemical and environmental incidents in Vietnam.
On this occasion, the Vietnamese deputy defense minister thanked the Government of Japan for their consideration and practical and effective cooperation in the field. He asserted that he hopes the two countries will further their cooperation in war consequence relief in the future.
