Preparatory meeting for U.N. Ministerial Conference on Peacekeeping held
PANO – A mission of the Ministry of National Defense, led by Deputy Director of the Department of External Relations Senior Colonel Pham Manh Thang, attended the third preparatory meeting for the U.N. Ministerial Conference on Peacekeeping 2021 on September 1 and 2.

At the online meeting, co-hosted by Japan, Ethiopia and Indonesia, delegates focused on exchanging the reality of training and capacity building for female personnel participating in U.N. peacekeeping operations and put forward measures to ensure gender equality in accessing training and capability building opportunities.
Delegates also discussed the problem of narrowing capability gap among military medical forces participating in U.N. peacekeeping operations and set forth orientations to bring into play available cooperation mechanisms on peacekeeping operations.
Themed “Partnerships in Training and Capability Building,” the meeting was held to prepare for the U.N. Ministerial Conference on Peacekeeping 2021 which is scheduled to take place in December.
