The ceremony was held on September 1 at the Level-two Field Hospital (L2FH) Rotation 4.

The event was attended by Mr. Paul Adejoh Ebikwo, Acting Head of the UNMISS Field Office in Bentiu, Mr. Noel Ngaha, Head of the UNMISS field operations agency, Brigadier General Mike Cooper Mujuni, Commander of Unity Military Region, and representatives of garrisoned units; and other guests.

The ceremony began with art performances by Vietnamese peacekeeping officers in praise of the country.

Speaking at the event, Lieutenant Colonel Pham Tan Phong, Deputy Head of the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations and Commanding Officer of the Vietnamese peacekeeping force in South Sudan, recalled the meaning of the National Day, contributing to giving a deeper understanding of Vietnam’s active contribution to the revolutionary movements for independence of countries in the world and reaffirming Vietnam’s determination to fulfill all assigned tasks at UNMISS.

In turn, Mr. Noel Ngaha, Head of the UNMISS field operations agency, congratulated members of Vietnam’s L2FH Rotation 4 on Vietnam’s National Day, and at the same time expressed his appreciation over the history of the Vietnamese people, acknowledged contribution of Vietnamese “blue-berret” soldiers to the U.N. peacekeeping operations.

Addressing the ceremony, Lieutenant General Vu Minh Duong, Director of L2FH Rotation 4, expressed his thanks for the support of relevant agencies of UNMISS to the hospital. Participants to the ceremony had a chance to experience Vietnamese dishes prepared by L2FH Rotation 4 staff and watched clips about the beauty of the Vietnamese culture, country and people.

In addition, the hospital’s members also introduced a herbal medicine garden which has numerous traditional medicinal plants.
