A welcome ceremony for the vessel which is commanded by Commander Yvonne van Beusekom was held right at the port in the attendance of representatives from Hai Phong municipal leadership and functional agencies, cadres and personnel of the Naval Region 1 Command and Coast Guard Region 1 Command.
The Dutch frigate’s visit is hoped to help strengthen the cooperative ties between the two countries in general and the two militaries in particular, and enhance the friendship exchange, cooperation, mutual understanding and trust between the two navies.

On the afternoon the same day, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong municipal People’s Committee Hoang Minh Cuong received the delegation of the Royal Netherlands Navy officers, led by Commander Yvonne van Beusekom. Ambassador of the Netherlands in Vietnam Kees van Baar joined the event.
At the reception, Cuong briefed the guests on the city’s achievements in socio-economy, the city’s strategic position, as well as its cooperation with its Dutch partners. So far, the Netherlands has invested USD 302 million in this port city with a focus on shipbuilding, production of maritime equipment, warehouse for lease, animal food production, to name but a few.

He also spoke highly of the fruitful relations between Hai Phong and the Netherlands’ localities and businesses. He stressed that Hai Phong is willing to boost cooperation with Dutch partners in different fields to promote each side’s potential and strengths.
For her part, Commander Yvonne van Beusekom thanked the host for the solemn reception and expressed her delight to have a chance to visit the beautiful and dynamic port city of Hai Phong.
During the three day visit, the chain-of-command of the ship will pay a courtesy visit on the leadership of the Naval Region 1 Command.

The guest officers and soldiers will have a friendly football match with their peers from Naval Region 1 Command.
Attentively, Frigate HNLMS Tromp and Vietnamese naval ship will have a joint exercise at sea.
While in Hai Phong city, the guests will also spend time visiting some landscapes here.
