At the meeting, Vietnamese Consul General Lai Xuan Thang expressed delight at receiving the visiting delegates and briefed them on the political, economic, and social situations of Cambodia in general and Preah Sihanouk province in particular.

The head of Naval Region 5’s delegation presents a souvenir to the Consulate General of Vietnam in Preah Sihanouk province.

Thang highly appreciated Naval Region 5’s outcomes in safeguarding national sovereignty over sea and islands and conducting defense relations work over the past time. He hoped that in the coming time, the naval region will work with the Consulate General of Vietnam in Preah Sihanouk to maintain and promote exchanges with Cambodian units and agencies, contributing to consolidating and developing the cooperative relations and strengthening mutual understanding and trust between the two militaries, navies, and peoples. 

On behalf of the working delegation, Senior Captain Trinh Xuan Tung thanked the host for the warm welcome and emphasized that the defense relations activities between Naval Region 5 and Cambodian Royal Navy have fruitfully developed. The obtained outcomes have partly come from the active and effective contribution of the Consulate General of Vietnam in Preah Sihanouk. 

The naval region’s Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff suggested the consulate general continue working with and exchanging information related to fishing in the Vietnam - Cambodia historical waters, thus discovering and preventing illegal fishing in a timely manner to maintain peace and stability for the two countries to develop their maritime economy.
