At the meeting, Minister Phan Van Giang affirmed that Vietnam always attaches great importance to consolidating and developing the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership with India, which was built by Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh and Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and has been cultivated by generations of leaders and people of the two countries.
The Vietnamese defense chief said that since the official establishment of the diplomatic relations, the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries have always been paid due attention to and promoted by the two sides’ leaders. The friendship and cooperation are developing strongly and being intensively expanded in many areas, practically benefiting the two peoples. He emphasized that the bilateral defense cooperation has also received due attention and being promoted, becoming an important pillar in the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
Gen. Phan Van Giang informed President Droupadi Murmu of the outcomes of his talks with Indian counterpart Rajnath Singh, during which both ministers agreed on the results of the bilateral defense cooperation over the past time and the cooperation orientations in the coming time.
Minister Phan Van Giang expressed his hope to receive the attention and active support of the Indian President for the two defense ministries to enhance their friendship, mutual understanding and trust.
President Droupadi Murmu hailed the guest’s official visit to India, stressing that the visit will help strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and Vietnam.
Speaking highly of the outcomes of the talks, she emphasized that the bilateral defense ties have been developing actively, practically, and effectively, making important contribution to the two countries’ cooperative partnership.

Also in India, Defense Minister Phan Van Giang visited the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in India, during which he was briefed by Vietnamese Ambassador to India Nguyen Thanh Hai upon the relationship between Vietnam and India in recent years. The defense chief informed Vietnamese expatriates about the socio-economic situation at home and the external defense affairs in general and the defense diplomacy activities with India in particular.
