In a warm atmosphere, Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang expressed his joy and excitement over the achievements of Cambodia in recent years under the reign of King Norodom Sihamoni and the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet. Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang sincerely thanked Prime Minister Hun Manet and the Cambodian Government for their due attention and guidance in preserving the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Monuments built in Cambodia, which serve as places for educating younger generations of both countries about their shared history.

On the occasion of the Cambodian traditional New Year, on behalf of the Military Region 7 Command, Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang wished Prime Minister Hun Manet and his family a joyful, peaceful, and prosperous Chol Chnam Thmay festival. He also wished for the long-lasting friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Cambodia to remain forever strong.

Reportedly, in 2024, Military Region 7 organized six medical missions to Cambodia, providing health checks, distributing medicines, and giving gifts to 1,950 poor people in provinces across Military Regions 1, 2, 4, and the Special Military Region. With the assistance of the Cambodian military, Government, and people, Military Region 7’s teams successfully repatriated 720 remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors who sacrificed their lives in Cambodia during wartime.

Prime Minister Hun Manet thanked Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang and the delegation from the Military Region 7 and highly appreciated the increasingly strengthened and developed Vietnam-Cambodia relationship in all fields, which brings benefits to the people of both countries and contributes to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and worldwide. He also expressed deep gratitude for Vietnam’s consistent support to Cambodia during its struggle for national liberation, helping the Cambodian people escape from the genocidal regime, and assistance in Cambodia’s on-going development progress.

Prime Minister Hun Manet affirmed that Cambodia, alongside Vietnam, would continue to protect, preserve, and nurture the relationship between the two countries, ensuring its continued growth for future generations. He emphasized Cambodia’s commitment to promoting defense cooperation with Vietnam and reiterated Cambodia’s support for activities related to the search and repatriation of the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and advisors who sacrificed their lives in Cambodia during different periods. Additionally, Cambodia supports Vietnam’s military enterprises contributing to Cambodia’s economic and social development.
