PANO – Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, Deputy Minister of National Defense and Head of the ministry’s Steering Committee for UN peacekeeping operations on April 5th handed over the State President’s decisions on the assignment of five officers of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Centre to the UN Peacekeeping Mission in the Central African Republic and South Sudan.

At the ceremony, Senior Colonel Hoang Kim Phung, the centre’s Director reported that the centre has made thorough preparations for sending officers to these Missions, and affirmed that these five are good disciplinarians, responsible, and knowledgeable officers who fulfilled all the tests with high results.

Assigning missions for the five officers, Senior Lieuteanant General Nguyen Chi Vinh emphasised the importance of the mission assigned by the Party, State, and Army as well as the heavy responsibility that each officer should undertake this time. He asked the officers to strive hard to preserve the image of a revolutionary soldier to deserve to the trust of the Party, State, Army, and people, strictly enforce disciplines and laws, actively take part in production and environmental protection activities, and to be friendly with and respect local residents to build beautiful image of the Vietnam People’s Army in the eyes of international friend.

On behalf of the officers, Major Luong Truong Vinh expressed great honour to undertake missions in Central Africa and South Sudan and said that he has participated in training courses at home and abroad, and promised to furth improve his foreign language skills and physical strength to successfully fulfil such a noble international obligation.

Talking with the reporter of the People’s Army Newspaper Online, Captain Tran Duc Huong who is about to take the task in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic said thanks to the support and encouragement of leaders of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Centre, and of those who had fulfilled the mission in African countries, and their families, he and other officers have been prepared to leave their home country for the mission.
