Addressing the ceremony, VMMU Director, Major General Do Quyet, said that since 1954, the university has trained hundreds of medical staff for the Lao People’s Armed Forces.

Moreover, it has also studied and shared experiences on higher education management and training with the Lao partner; sent experts to assist the Lao Military Medical University in building its program framework, drafting training models and regulations; and provided the Lao university with textbooks, equipment, teaching facilities and others.

“The good outcomes of the special ties between the two militaries in general and the two universities in particular have partly resulted from the important contributions of VMMU’s military experts who supported their Lao peers in education and training and doing scientific research,” Major General Do Quyet emphasized.

The twinning was expected to help develop the special solidarity and relationship as well as the military medical cooperation between the two militaries.

Also at the ceremony, the Lao MND’s Second and Third-class Bravery and Friendship Orders were awarded to a number of the VMMU’s units and individuals.
