Military Preventive Medicine Institute receives molecular diagnostic tools for malaria
PANO - On October 18, the Military Preventive Medicine Institute held a ceremony for the handover of molecular diagnostic tools for malaria, used in field testing, generously donated by the Australian Department of Defense.
This system comprises HumaLoop LAMP machines designed for the molecular biological diagnosis of malaria parasites, highly capable of identifying and quantifying the parasites with high sensitivity and effectiveness.

During the event, on behalf of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense, Senior Colonel Le Van Dong, Deputy Director of the Department of Military Medicine (General Department of Logistics), expressed profound gratitude for the medical equipment support from the Australian Department of Defense. Senior Colonel Le Van Dong emphasized that cooperation in malaria prevention and control is one of the highlights in the Vietnam-Australia defense ties, serving as evidence of effective collaboration between the two countries in general and their armed forces in particular.

In March 2000, a memorandum of understanding on the malaria cooperation project was signed in Hanoi between the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense and the Australian Department of Defense. The primary goal of this collaboration was to enhance the capabilities of both countries' armed forces in treating and safeguarding their military personnel from vector-borne infectious diseases, such as malaria.
