During the meeting, General Phan Van Giang expressed confidence that Ambassador Suren Baghdasaryan would have a successful tenure, contributing to the further deepening of Vietnam - Armenia relations.

General Phan Van Giang emphasized that Vietnam and Armenia have enjoyed a strong traditional friendship since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992. He expressed his pleasure at witnessing the very positive development of bilateral ties and sincerely thanked Armenia, formerly part of the Soviet Union, for its support and assistance to Vietnam during its struggle for national independence and reunification, particularly in helping train thousands of Vietnamese scientific and technical personnel.
He noted that, in gratitude to Soviet military experts who had assisted Vietnam, the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam built the Vietnam-Soviet Union Friendship and Solidarity Monument at the Vietnam Military History Museum. He respectfully invited Ambassador Suren Baghdasaryan to visit the monument at an appropriate time.

General Phan Van Giang highly appreciated the results of Vietnam - Armenia defense cooperation in recent years in such areas as defense industry and humanitarian mine clearance. He proposed that in the coming period, the two sides coordinate to implement several key areas of cooperation, including promoting delegation exchanges at all levels, defense industry collaboration, and training cooperation.
On this occasion, General Phan Van Giang respectfully invited Armenia’s Ministry of Defense to send high-level delegations and defense industry enterprises to attend and showcase products at the 3rd Vietnam Defense Expo, scheduled to be held in December 2026.
For his part, Ambassador Suren Baghdasaryan highly valued Vietnam’s increasingly important role in the international arena.

Ambassador Suren Baghdasaryan stressed that Armenia stands ready to promote cooperation with Vietnam across various fields, including defense. He affirmed that in his position, he would make every effort to further advance Armenia - Vietnam relations in general and bilateral defense cooperation in particular in an increasingly effective and practical manner.
