Apart from the remaining staff of the L2FH Rotation 2, there were other Vietnamese officers finishing their peacekeeping missions and going home on furlough.

A simple but moving ceremony welcoming back the peacekeepers was held at the airport under the chair of Major General Hoang Kim Phung, Director of the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations. The reception was in line with COVID-19 prevention and control regulations.

Via cellphone, Lieutenant Colonel Vo Van Hien, Director of the L2FH Rotation 2 touchingly said that all members of the hospital returned home in good health. Hien stressed that the Vietnamese peacekeepers were proud that during the long tenure (18 months), they overcame all difficulties, including those caused by COVID-19, consolidated solidarity, and exerted all-out efforts to fulfill all of the missions assigned by the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense. Their achievements have received high praise from the United Nations.

For his part, Senior Lieutenant Tu Quang, an officer responsible for Civilian-Military Coordination (CIMIC) programs, shared that his comrades and he completed a challenging but significant working term, actively contributing to UN peacekeeping operations and beautifying the image of Vietnamese blue berets and the Vietnam People’s Army in the eyes of international friends. Quang added that the experience gained during the international mission will be useful for his future tasks.

After arriving at the airport, all 32 members of the L2FH Rotation 2 were transported to Army Corps 11 for a fortnight-long quarantine period before reuniting with their families.

After testing negative for SARS-CoV-2 after the quarantine period, the first 31 members of the L2FH Rotation 2 were given the all clear.
