The Vietnamese general confirmed that Vietnam always pays due attention to consolidating and developing the good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and long-term sustainability with Cambodia.

According to Gen. Nghia, over the past time, military and defense cooperation between the two countries has continuously developed in a practical and effective manner, being one of the important pillars in Vietnam-Cambodia relations.

He said that the two sides’ military agencies and units have coordinated to realize the protocol and yearly cooperation plan signed by the two defense ministries, particularly in exchange of delegations, personnel training, border management and protection, dissemination about the two countries’ relationship, collection and repatriation of remains of fallen Vietnamese volunteer troops and advisors during the war in Cambodia, and mutual support and collaboration at multilateral forums.

For his part, Gen. Khiev Saphat thanked the delegation of the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam for attending the 47th Remembrance Day of the “Journey to overthrow the Pol Pot genocidal regime,” contributing to popularizing the time-tested friendship between the two countries.

The Cambodian general informed the host of the outcomes of his earlier working session with the GS’s Department of Military Forces.

Highly valuing the session’s results, Gen. Nghia stressed that the GS of the Vietnam People’s Army is always ready to support the cooperation between the two departments. He suggested the two sides continue to coordinate and effectively hold delegation exchanges, consultations, and sharing of expertise.
